The conflicting Laws cause what is basically a feedback loop which confuses him to oscillate around the point where the two compulsions are of equal strength, which makes Speedy appear inebriated. The First Law of Robotics states that a robot may not harm a human being or, through inaction, cause a human being to come to harm.

The three laws are interacting in a manner that forces him to shift constantly between two, leaving him unable to complete or abandon his task. Naturally one would think that the easiest way to go is to evaluate these laws by priority and importance, and make the robots follow them acco Runaround is the first book in Asimov’s I,Robot series which introduces the entire set of three laws of robotics, which is very important for a reader that’s trying to understand the reasoning behind these robot’s behavior.

Want to Read saving…. Powell eventually realizes that the selenium source contains unforeseen runaroind to the robot. Speedy continues to show symptoms that, if he were human, would be ruharound as drunkenness.
